Chrome Shelled Regios (鋼殻のレギオス) is a Japanese light novel series written by Shūsuke Amagi and illustrated by Miyū. An anime adaptation was produced by Zexcs and aired from January 11, 2009 to June 20, 2009. It is licensed in North America by Funimation Entertainment. Story Outline

In a post-apocalyptic future, as the earth atmosphere becomes polluted with contaminated particles, nature falls prey to its predatory changes. Except for the huge organism, known as the filth monsters that continues to adapt and thrive, humanity is the other exception that continues to depend on the existence of Electronic Fairies and survive in large mobile cities, called Regios. By its self-operative function, Regios are protected from pollution and filth monsters. In addition, citizens whose roles to protect their cities are known as martial artists. They manipulate their Kei (energy) and wield weapons called DITEs to defend themselves.

Staged in the Academic City of Zuellni, the story follows a certain youth in hoping to start his life anew. However, fate draws the attention of the Student Council President and the Captain of the 17th Platoon . As people start to recognize his abilities, his past catches up to him.
